Privacy Policy

This is the binding document. If you want the short version in plain language, read how the app handles your data instead.

1. Overview

Ainonymity Calorie Counter (the “Application”) is published by AInonymity Inc. (“Ainonymity”, “we”, “us”, “our”), and is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not track you, we run no advertising and no analytics, and we do not sell information about you. The only information that ever leaves your device is what is strictly necessary to operate the optional AI meal-photo analysis feature, described in Section 3. This Privacy Policy explains how the Application handles information and the limited technical mechanisms used solely to operate Application features.

2. What the Application Collects

The Application does not collect your name, email address, location, contacts or device identifiers, and it contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting software. All meal tracking data you enter, and the health details you give the calorie calculator, are stored exclusively on your device; your weight is additionally kept as a dated series, described in Section 5. That data is never transmitted to, or accessible by, us. One thing does leave the device, and only when you ask for it: a meal photograph you actively choose to analyze, described in Section 3. The barcode scanner is not an exception to this: it uses the camera, but the product database it consults is stored on your device, so scanning a barcode contacts no server, sends no image, and transmits nothing at all.

3. AI Photo Analysis

The Application offers an optional feature that estimates the nutritional content of a meal from a photograph. It runs only when you actively choose it — by tapping Camera or Photo Library to capture a meal, or the Camera or Library buttons inside the meal editor. When you do, the image you select is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to a cloud-based AI analysis service operated for the Application, which returns an estimated nutritional breakdown. Only the image, your chosen analysis mode, and the anonymous credit token described in Section 6 are transmitted — never your name, email address, location, or any other identifying information. The image is used solely to produce the estimate for that request; it is not used for advertising, profiling, or to identify you. The analysis may be performed with the help of third-party AI providers acting solely as processors for this purpose. If you never use this feature, no image or meal data leaves your device at all.

4. Analyzed Photos Stored on Your Device

When an AI analysis succeeds, the Application keeps a compressed preview of the photo on your device, together with the estimate the service returned and the time it was produced. These appear in the Analyzed Photos view so you can see what the AI read, unchanged by any later edits you make to the meal. Two things are worth knowing about these previews. First, they contain no location data: the Application strips every photograph down to raw pixels before anything else happens, so camera metadata such as GPS coordinates, timestamps, and device details never reaches the preview or the analysis service. Second, they are stored only on your device, protected by your device passcode through iOS Data Protection and included in your device backups. They are never sent to us. Each preview is removed automatically 365 days after the analysis, leaving the estimate itself in place, and you can delete any analysis and its preview at any time by swiping it away in the Analyzed Photos view. Deleting an analysis never affects a meal you created from it, and deleting a meal never removes its analysis.

5. Body Weight History Stored on Your Device

When you enter or change your weight in the calorie calculator, the Application keeps that weight together with the date you recorded it. Previously it kept only your current weight, replacing the old one each time. The series exists so that protein per kilogram of body weight is worked out from the weight you were at the time: without it, a figure covering last year would be divided by the weight you are today. You can see the whole series, and delete any entry in it, under Weight History in Settings. These records are stored only on your device, protected by your device passcode through iOS Data Protection and included in your device backups. They are never sent to us, and they are never included in an exported report, which states only your current details. Nothing is removed automatically: the series is kept until you delete it or remove the Application. Deleting an entry removes the protein-per-kilogram figure from reports and trend cards for the period that entry covered, and never changes the current weight the calculator uses.

6. Anonymous Credit Identifier

AI analyses are metered by a credit balance. The Application associates that balance with a de-identified token — opaque, revealing no name, email address or Apple ID to us, and unable to identify, contact or track you in any way. It is used for nothing except counting your remaining analyses. The service returns your remaining balance after each analysis, which the Application displays so you can see how many AI analyses you have left.

7. Data Security

The Application stores your meal data on your device, and transmits data externally only for the optional AI photo analysis described in Section 3. Meal photos sent for AI analysis are transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Files the Application writes are protected by iOS Data Protection. The principal security boundary for your data therefore remains your device, and we strongly encourage you to use a device passcode.

8. Third-Party Services

Apart from the optional AI meal-photo analysis service described in Section 3 — which may rely on third-party AI providers acting as processors — the Application integrates no third-party services. It contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or data-collection SDKs of any kind. Its only third-party components are image codecs.

9. Age Restriction

The Application is not directed at anyone under 18. Its calorie calculator declines to produce a target below that age, because the equations it uses were derived from adults and the requirements of children and adolescents differ and are a matter for a pediatric clinician. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in an updated version of this document within the Application, with a revised “Last updated” date below. Continued use of the Application after any such change constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. If anything here is unclear, ask our Privacy Officer at privacy@ainonymityapps.com.
